“A Clockwork Orange” is a cult dystopian novel by Anthony Burgess, published in 1962. The book tells the story of Alex, a teenage delinquent living in a near-future society, who undergoes an experimental rehabilitation technique that strips him of his free will. The novel explores themes of violence, freedom of choice, morality, and the control of the state over the individual. The work achieved renown through its inventive slang, “Nadsat,” as well as Stanley Kubrick’s 1971 film adaptation.
