“The Suitcase” is a collection of short stories by Sergei Dovlatov, written in 1986. The book consists of eight stories, each linked to an item the author packed in his suitcase when emigrating from the USSR. Through the lens of these objects, the author humorously and ironically recounts his life in the Soviet Union, the people he encountered, and the absurdity of Soviet reality.
