Leonid Yuzefovich’s documentary novel tells the story of a little-known episode of the Russian Civil War — the 1922–1923 confrontation in Yakutia between the White Guard General Anatoly Pepelyaev and the Red commander Ivan Strod. Based on archival materials, the book is a historical study in which the author reconstructs the dramatic events of the final stage of the Civil War.
