1984

The story is set in the fictional superstate of Oceania, ruled by a totalitarian regime under the Party and its figurehead, Big Brother. Citizens live under perpetual surveillance and control, stripped of personal freedom and independent thought. The protagonist, Winston Smith, works at the Ministry of Truth, rewriting historical records to fit the Party’s shifting narratives. Gradually, he begins to question the regime’s reality and contemplates rebellion. The novel explores themes of pervasive surveillance, psychological manipulation, and the destruction of individuality.
