The Turkish Gambit

“The Turkish Gambit” is a historical mystery novel by Boris Akunin and the second book in the series featuring detective Erast Fandorin. Set during the Russo-Turkish War of 1877–1878, the story follows a young woman, Varvara Suvorova, who travels to the active army to join her fiancé, but runs into trouble along the way. She is aided by diplomat Erast Fandorin, who is investigating an espionage case within the Russian army. Together, they become embroiled in a dangerous game where the outcome of the entire war is at stake.
